SATA Air Açores carries out additional flight to transport Divino Espírito Santo Hospital users

SATA AIR AÇORES CARRIES OUT ADDITIONAL FLIGHT TO TRANSPORT HOSPITAL USERS WHO WERE ON MADEIRA ISLAND

SATA Air Açores carried out yesterday, May 22nd, an additional flight to bring back to the Azores users of the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital who were displaced on Madeira Island as a result of the fire that flared up in that hospital unit.

The flight was carried out using Bombardier Dash Q400 equipment, with a cabin configuration adapted to the need to accommodate a stretcher. There were 57 passengers on board, including patients from Hospital Divino Espírito Santo, companions, medical staff, and nursing staff. The flight took off from Cristiano Ronaldo Airport (Madeira Island) at around 00:30 local time and landed at João Paulo II Airport (São Miguel Island) at 01:30 local time.

SATA Air Açores has also been responsible for carrying these patients from the Island of São Miguel to the Island of Madeira on May 5th ,and plans to carry out the transport of patients who, for the same reasons, are displaced on the islands of Faial and Terceira within the next few days.

Also for this reason, the additional flight carried out yesterday, in close collaboration with the Regional Secretariat for Health, represents for the airline the culmination of a mission that takes on a special significance for all those involved.

The spirit of social responsibility is strengthened on these occasions, and, in this particular case, it materialized in the safe transport of patients residing in the Azores who had been displaced for reasons of force majeure and who can now continue treatments at their place of residence. Meeting emerging needs has always been part of SATA's mission.
