SATA Holding, the group that owns the airlines SATA Air Açores, Azores Airlines, and SATA Gestão de Aeródromos, has been officially certified by APCER (Portuguese Certification Association) for social responsibility management under the NP 4469:2019 standard.
This milestone validates SATA Holding's adherence to rigorous processes and highlights the organization's commitment to fostering a culture of social responsibility, ethical practices, and continuous improvement.
To achieve this certification, APCER conducted a thorough evaluation of the SATA Group's processes and practices, ensuring they aligned with the standards of social responsibility management. The certificate also recognized various initiatives and projects that demonstrated a strong commitment to the surrounding community.
During the certification ceremony held at SATA Holding's headquarters in Ponta Delgada, Rui Oliveira, APCER's Chief Operating Officer, praised SATA for its proactive approach. "SATA has shown remarkable transparency and a genuine dedication to ethical principles, respect for human rights, compliance with applicable laws, and sustainable development," he stated.
José Raposo, Head of SATA's Social Responsibility, Health, and Safety at Work Office, emphasized the dedication of employees and teams united by a shared commitment to continuous improvement. Rui Coutinho, Chairman of SATA Holding, added: "This certification reflects the tireless efforts of a team committed to the social well-being of its employees and embedding social responsibility as a cornerstone of our management strategy." He further remarked, "This achievement is not the conclusion but the beginning of an ongoing journey."
With this certification, SATA Holding reinforces its position as a benchmark for best practices in the sector, contributing to a more sustainable and socially responsible future. This recognition underscores the group's dedication to developing impactful policies that benefit the communities it serves, particularly in the Azores archipelago.
The SATA Group has a strong track record of pioneering achievements in corporate responsibility and sustainability. It was among the first in Portugal to secure certification under the IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) program, which addresses the specific needs of the air transport sector. SATA also played a founding role in the Grace Azores Cluster, promoting regional business development guided by Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Most recently, the group was awarded a Silver Medal in the EcoVadis Index, a global platform that evaluates companies' performance in environmental impact, human rights, working conditions, and supplier responsibility.
