The airline reopened the Ponta Delgada <> London route on June 4, with two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Azores Airlines has already started direct flights between the cities of Ponta Delgada and London, resuming this route that was already part of its network of destinations. The first flight between Ponta Delgada and London, operated on Azores Airlines’ Airbus A320ceo “Natural”, landed at around 12:35 (local time) at Gatwick airport, and returned to Ponta Delgada on the same day, landing at João Paulo II Airport at 4:30 pm (local time).
As has been customary on these celebratory occasions, passengers were welcomed upon arrival at João Paulo II Airport, in Ponta Delgada, with a special welcome, which this time included the offering of a symbolic blue flower, in allusion to the colors of Azores Airlines. “The reopening of this route, for which we have high expectations, is a moment experienced with great enthusiasm. Connecting the Azores to London means increasing the offer of destinations for our passengers and continuing to enhance the connectivity of our network. We believe that this is the right time to resume connections between the Azores and this European reference destination with great air traffic confluence” highlights Graça Silva, Director of Sales, Marketing and Communication at the SATA Group.
